Stewed Pea Soup

Serves: 4

Ingredients
  • ½ pound of canned peas
  • 1 quart of milk
  • 1 quart of chicken broth
  • 1 spoonful of heavy sour cream
  • 1 potato
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • Chili powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions
  1. Before you can start cooking the soup, you will need to drain the canned peas. Open the can and pour the peas into a strainer. Let the peas sit in the strainer for a few minutes to ensure that all of the liquid is drained, and add them to a pot.
  2. Into that pot pour the milk and the chicken broth, and place the pot on the stove. Turn on the heat to high, and bring the soup to a boil.
  3. As the soup is boiling, cut the red bell pepper into small cubes. Peel the carrot and dice it into bite-size pieces, and do the same for the potato. Add the vegetables into the soup, and sit back as the soup boils.
  4. Once the soup is boiling, add a teaspoon of chili powder and enough pepper to make the soup taste slightly spicy. Add a pinch or two of salt to round out the flavors.
  5. minutes before you serve the soup, add in the spoonful of heavy cream and stir well to ensure that it dissolves into the soup.
