Stewed Pea Soup
Serves: 4
Ingredients
- ½ pound of canned peas
- 1 quart of milk
- 1 quart of chicken broth
- 1 spoonful of heavy sour cream
- 1 potato
- 2 carrots
- 1 red bell pepper
- Chili powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Before you can start cooking the soup, you will need to drain the canned peas. Open the can and pour the peas into a strainer. Let the peas sit in the strainer for a few minutes to ensure that all of the liquid is drained, and add them to a pot.
- Into that pot pour the milk and the chicken broth, and place the pot on the stove. Turn on the heat to high, and bring the soup to a boil.
- As the soup is boiling, cut the red bell pepper into small cubes. Peel the carrot and dice it into bite-size pieces, and do the same for the potato. Add the vegetables into the soup, and sit back as the soup boils.
- Once the soup is boiling, add a teaspoon of chili powder and enough pepper to make the soup taste slightly spicy. Add a pinch or two of salt to round out the flavors.
- minutes before you serve the soup, add in the spoonful of heavy cream and stir well to ensure that it dissolves into the soup.
